2. OTHER THAN HAND PICKING THEM OFF, HERE IS AN ALL ROUND NATURAL REPELLENT THAT NOT ONLY WORKS FOR THEM BUT OTHER INSECTS ALSO. JUST BE SURE NOT TO SPRAY THE BLOSSOMS BECAUSE IT'LL DRIVE THE BEES NUTS!THERE ARE REALLY NO MEASUREMENTS....BUT TAKE X AMOUNT OF JALAPENOS, ONIONS AND GARLIC. BLEND THEM ALTOGETHER IN BLENDER OR FOOD PROCESSOR. ADD WATER AND SOAK OVERNIGHT. NEXT DAY STRAIN WATER FROM MASH (BEING CAREFUL TO KEEP MASH TO USE UNDER VEGGIE PLANTS.) JUST SPRAY THE WATER. ONE WORD OF CAUTION.....USE GLOVES!!!! THE FIRST TIME I MADE IT I DIDN'T BOTHER AND BELIEVE ME IT CAN BE A REAL EYE OPENER AT 3 AM.!THE YEAR I USED IT WE HAD A GRASSHOPPER INFESTATION IN OUR TOWN AND MOST GARDENS WERE WIPED OUT.....ALL BUT MINE!HANG IN THERE AND REMEMBER....IT'S THEM OR US!LADIES....MAN YOUR SPRAYERS!

3. One lady said she let her chickens in the garden for a day, and they ate most of the beetles!

Now we just have to get some chickens!!!

Getting Rid of the Beetles

Some How to get rid of Cucumber Beetles suggestions from Genny:

1. plant an onion between each plant.
2. spray with a mixture of few drops of liquid soap and water, about a quart or so.
3. crush garlic cloves in water about a quart, let sit, and spray with taht.should work i hope....if not will taste nice for a salad!!!

We got Beetles

They are eating up are Melon and Pumpkins!

Japanese Beetles. Hate them!!

Any tips for getting rid of them?

Here is one that I found:

FRUIT COCKTAIL-You can buy Japanese-beetle traps of all sorts, but most are no more effective in trapping these pests than a can of fruit cocktail. Open the can and let it sit in the sun for about a week to ferment. Then stand it on bricks or wood blocks in a light-colored pail. Fill the pail with water to just below the top of the can and put it about 25 feet from the plants you want to protect. The beetles,attracted to the sweet and potent bail, will fall into the water and drown. (If rain dilutes the fruit cocktail, you'll have to start anew.)
